Modi govt. getting ready for a full surgical operation on Pakistan?

Defence News: Union minister Jitendra singh today dropped a hint at a round table conference. He said that the Govt. would do something very concrete and decisive in relation to cross border aggression by Pakistan. When reporters from various news agencies asked him if the Govt. is planning to reign in Pakistan at the border and LoC, the minister said: “Did we tell (press) before we carried out the surgical strike? We talked about this only after the operation had been done. We will not tell you what we are going to do.”

Responding to the question whether something has been planned? He said “We will definitely do something decisive. But, I can’t tell you what that would be. The security agencies will do whatever is required.” and continued; “You will see the results yourself.”

Who is Hurriyat?: The minister indicated that Hurriyat is not an important stake holder in resolving Kashmir issue. “Our agenda of alliance in Jammu and Kashmir says that we will talk to stakeholders. But who are the stakeholders. Are Kashmiri Pandits not a stakeholder? Are Sikhs and Ladakhis not stakeholders? Are 65 per cent youths of Kashmir Valley not stakeholders,” he asked. On one question Jitendra Singh said, “Hurriyat too. But, why only Hurriyat?” The Modi government has maintained that till Hurriyat talks of separatism and ‘supports’ terror, it will not talk to their leaders. Jitendra Singh mentioned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in defending the decision not to talk to Hurriyat. He said, “You can’t shake hands with someone who has clenched fist. This is not me who says this. Indira Gandhi had said this.”

Kashmirs in the question: Quoting an example for firm faith of common Kashmiris in India, Singh said “Just three days back, 68,000 boys and girls came out for 700 vacancies in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. This is a reflection of their choice. This shows that they want to progress and engagement with them is on” Mr. Singh himself comes form Jammu and kashmir and this means a lot coming from him. He said that the kashmiri youth today are more engaged with use than ever before and they want to be part of the development.

Who are the stone pelters?: There are just countable number of Pakistani sponsored trouble making people in Kashmir, not more than 350 in number.  “This chapter of disturbance in Kashmir will come to an end very soon,” he said without mentioning any time frame. “this will be a decisive policy,” full of “courage, conviction and consistency” towards fixing the problems he said.

So it still remains a question whether the govt. is considering an all out open heart surgery along with internal security action. Last time Modi govt. went with a cross border operation into PoK, but then it’s our own land. There is no question it was an attack on Pakistan, but if Pakistan takes it to be so, then let it be. The Govt. Should exercise and aggressive, all hands approach towards fixing this menace once and for all. And we have no problem getting the news after or while the job is being done.
